How to clear Safari on Mac
With WIWIClean
- Download and open WIWIClean. On first launch, allow Full Disk Access — without it the Safari cache is not visible.
On the Caches & logs card, click Show list.
- Click Clean everything and confirm.
The Safari cache is removed together with other app caches. History, cookies and website logins stay.
Manually in Safari
Cache
Safari → Settings…
Advanced tab → turn on “Show features for web developers”.
- Press ⌥⌘E or choose Develop → Empty Caches.
History
- Safari → Clear History…
- Choose a period and click Clear History.
Warning
Clearing history also removes cookies, so you will need to sign in to websites again. To stay signed in, open the Safari menu while holding ⌥ and choose Clear History and Keep Website Data…
To see your history, press ⌘Y or choose History → Show All History. To remove one site, select it and press Delete.
Cookies
- Safari → Settings… → Privacy.
- Manage Website Data… → select a site and click Remove, or click Remove All.
You will be signed out of those websites.
FAQ
Will passwords and bookmarks be deleted?
No. Neither WIWIClean nor the steps above touch them.
Will history be cleared on my iPhone too?
Yes, if Safari syncs through iCloud.
The page still looks old after clearing?
Press ⌥⌘R on the page to reload it from the server.
